For Joe Trentacosta... Joe, I also put in for awards replacement at the National Personnel Records Center. They told me that the awards I wanted were also out of stock and would need to wait. Well that was Jan. 22, 2007. So I can only imagine how long the wait will be. As to the HD, There must be some place else to contact about that. I have a friend kinda high up the VA ladder I'll ask him. Good luck. At least you know your're not waiting alone.

Trying to find out if my Dad was a member of the 92nd. He was Lt. Raymond F. Oldsen during WWII. I am not sure if he went into Normandy at Omaha or Utah but think it was Omaha. Dad passed away in January and I am looking for any info I can find.

CORRECTION: It was very interesting to see Bill Conger's photos of Artillery Hill and Pleiku. ... On 20 Dec 2006, he posted that he was taking the trip.

It was VERY interesting to see Bill Conger's photos of Artillery taken on his recent trip. ....IF anyone is interested in another account of recent Vietnam, there is an interesting novel "Up Country" by Nelson Demille that portrays Vietnam as it was in 1997 when Mr. Demille returned to visit...29 years after he was in Vietnam with the 1st Air Cavalry Division.

after 40 years and after never receiving any awards and decorations,or my HD.I contacted the NATIONAL PERSONNEL RECORDS CENTER. I was told that they did not have the decorations in stock, and would need to wait. Also that they longer issued copies of Honorable Discharges. I"m not looking for a copy, but the original which I never received. Has anyone run into the same problem? "A" battery 65-67.

The news about Bud Allin`s passing really shook me. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. I remember when he first joined "C" Battery. We had just moved and were still digging in. Here comes a little "sawed-off runt" carrying a bunch of golfing magazines. He said he could have played golf for the Army golf team but he wanted a taste of Nam. Told me he was gonna play professional golf when he got out. I said sure thing little guy! Fast forward a coupla years and who should be the winner of the Doral Open?? None other than my little pal, Buddy Allin!! Later that year he played in the Milwaukee Open and I had a chance to go and talk to him. We got together again off and on thru the early 80`s. Many memories of Buddy Allin and will treasure them all. God speed

Golfer Bud Allin, Vietnam vet, dies at 62 Monday, March 12, 2026 (03-12) 14:57 PDT Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. (AP) -- Bud Allin, a Vietnam War veteran who won five times on the PGA Tour and found his greatest joy as a golf instructor, has died. He was 62. He died of cancer Saturday in Hemet, Calif., the PGA Tour said Monday. He had said this year he had cancer in five parts of his body. "Bud Allin's life was one of service and commitment," Champions Tour president Rick George said. Allin played college golf at BYU but left school early to enlist in the Army. He did two tours in Vietnam and earned two Purple Hearts, according to Golfweek magazine. Born in Bremerton, Wash., Allin joined the PGA Tour in 1970 and won five times, his last victory coming in 1976 at the Pleasant Valley Classic. His best year was in 1974 when he won the Doral-Eastern Open Invitational and Byron Nelson Golf Classic, finishing the season at ninth on the money list. Allin won once on the Champions Tour, but he spent his time in senior golf simple to make money. His joy was teaching, and among the clubs he worked was the San Diego Golf Academy. "The most popular instructor I've ever seen," PGA master professional Eric Wilson told Golfweek in a story this year. "The students just flocked to him. He would do anything to help them. He would come in on weekends to work with them."

I was told by Harry Thacker's wife that he passed away in November of 2006. Harry was in ' B' Battery on Fire Base 6 part of '69 and '70. He was a good friend of mine in 'Nam although we had lost touch with each other for 30 years. I was fortunate enough to meet up with him in the summer of 2004. After Christmas last year (2006) I received a phone call from Harry's wife. She said that Harry had passed away about six weeks prior. She couldn't remember my last name and did not know how to reach me. She later got my name from a Christmas card I had sent to her and Harry. I will miss Harry as I am sure others who new him will also.

So please guys, if you want to stay current and in touch, please keep us posted when anything at all changes, phone, address, e-mail, anything. Send changes to the website change form and we will get it OR you can send them to david@bravecannons.org or lisa@bravecannons.org or our home address or e-mail. We thank you and hope to see many of you this fall in San Antonio at the reunion in November.
