As usual I am not very good with Holiday cards. I want to thank all those that sent me cards and I wish all the members of the 1/92nd a Happy Holiday Season and the best in the New Year. I often pause at this time of the year and remember those who are no longer with us. I'm sure you all do the same.
Thanks, JD

It is with extreme sorrow that I must inform you of the passing of another of our brothers...
Richard "Rick" Parrish was found dead in his sleep by his wife Annmarie on Saturday morning 11/19/2005. Rick was a forward observer with Charlie Btry during 1970-71 and was responsible for saving many lives during the Siege of Phu Nhon. Rick was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions during the Siege; while wounded in the leg and chest he refused evacuation and continued to call in artillery and air strikes to help the men of C Btry during the fourth assault on FSB T.C. Miller.
Your calls and cards of condolences can be made to:

Great pictures from the reunion, just wish I could have been there. One thing though, would have like to have had names of people in the photos with the picture. Time & a stroke have taken away many memories. Some people look familiar but can`t put a name on them.

Any thoughts on maybe having the next get together in Branson Missouri during the first part of November? I know they go out of their way for vets. Just a thought.

For those of you who have noticed all the junk messages we've been getting, I have made some changes to the Posting Page Script. This should stop the garbage that Lisa and I have been deleting a few times a day.
Also added a couple of extra thingymabobs to keep it interesting. Let me know if you have any problems.
Thanks for your patience,

New Subject; Worked with a FO in 69th who was assigned to 'B' Company from Jan 69 - late Feb 1969 whose Radio Call Sign was 'BLACK LABEL', He was slender, wore a mustache, and wore glasses. Sure would like to see and find him again. He was not with us at Ben Het. I will try to find a picture of him.

Would still like to talk to anyone who was there 1-4 March 1969.

'TANK vs TANK' 3/4 MAR 1969 INFORMATION REQUEST.David and Lisa Powell suggested I post this on your website
What Arty unit or units was at Ben Het 01 Mar-04 Mar 1969?
Also, what equipment was located there?
What hill or FSB did supporting fire come from?
I remember counter battery equipment being there. Please excuse me if I do not give the correct name/nomenclature of equipment since I am not well versed in the ways of the King of Battle.
I also remember a Chief Warrant Officer who was there and I was told he was killed there shortly after the 'Tank vs Tank' battle. The tank battle was 3/4 Mar 1969. One of the medics and a tank crewman tried to save his life.
Was he the technician with the counter battery equipment?.(He may have been MI/Radio Monitor).
The reason I am asking all these questions is that I was the company commander of the tank unit that was there.
I was injured the night of the tank battle and was medically evacuated the next morning.
I have been contacted by the Military Channel who want to do one of their 'Battlefield Diaries' about the 'Tank vs Tank' battle at Ben Het.
I hope and pray there is someone from the Arty still around to tell about that time frame. Of course, I hope all are still alive and well
Their only restriction is they want to talk to personnel who were there.
I feel sure they would also appreciate any back ground info available on the battle.
Feel free to contact the producer

Thank you all,

DO NOT click onto url's unless you know the poster is a member of the 1/92 FA Association. Sadly there are rude, inconsiderate jerks who post links to worthless web sites.
.....Their spam can be easily identified because most of them have a url in their heading as in the postings here for October 3rd and 4th.

Bob Wolling,
You guys did a great job. I was a new 2lt just out of Ft.Sill, I think one of 11 recent OCS graduates who came to know and love Fayetteville for a short time. Lived in a house owned by Cpt Tredla who happened to be my commander at Basic Training(small world) Anyway when we arrived everything was set. All we had to do was train, train, train. I was in the convoy that took the equipment to Charleston. One Lt who we called Lurch was the assigned LT to stay with the equipment on the ship. I think by the time he arrived at Qui Non he had 70 days knocked off his tour. But that's another story. Thanks again.

Hello, brothers of the 1/92. Its been a while sence I posted here last so I thought a little thanks would do us all some good. I served with 2nd Plt 15th Engr CO, 299th CBT Engrs. I was in Ben Het from Feb 69 thru april of 69, then in Dak To for the siege( May / July.)I & all of us engineers & anyone else who servred in that god awful place( both Dak To & Ben Het), & who had to stay there to defend it know why we are here today. If it wasn't for your artillery batt. & your counter Batt. fire, none of us would have made it out.I can still see our medics,(299th) ,Ron Culpepper & Mike Zimmer trying to save your men on that (I think 155 gun ), that took that hit from a 122mm.A lot of good men died that day.Anyway I just want to say from all of us engineers in Dak To, THANKS.

I am trying to find a man we called Stash. He is from Ohio and I think his first name is Leonard. He was at Pli Morong with me in A Battery 1970-1971. I recently talked to a guy that said he had just seen Stash at a reunion but did not get his phone number. We just always called him Stash and he was a good friend of mine. I would like to get in touch with him to see how he is doing.

I was in HHB 1/92nd Arty from Nov 63 to Sep 65 at Fort Bragg. I was a surveyor and the Battalion Courts and Boards Clerk. Hundreds of us were sent there right after basic training in Nov 63. Most of us coming from Ft Dix. Looks like our mission was to get the Battalion ready for you guys. We fought the battle of Fayetteville, all of you were sent into harms way. What a great web site and may God bless each and every one of you.
